Automated Lighting & Safety System for Walkers & Rollators

Proudly Serving the VA

We’re here to help Veterans who’ve dedicated their lives to serving all of us.

Walkers Provide Stability, Walker Light® Adds Visibility

Walker Light® is a patented, rechargeable lighting and safety device designed specifically for walkers and rollators. Mounted directly to the walker, it travels with the user to provide added visibility where it matters most during mobility.

Its five-LED lighting system provides both forward illumination of the path ahead and downward illumination of the walking surface, helping users see obstacles, thresholds, flooring changes and other potential hazards—particularly in low-light and nighttime conditions.

Walker Light operates in Automatic Mode, activating based on motion and ambient light, or Manual Mode for direct control. An integrated tip-over safety alarm activates flashing lights and a two-tone audible alarm if the walker falls over. An internal rechargeable battery with magnetic charging provides convenient, cordless everyday operation.

Fall Prevention and Safe Ambulation:

Easy to Use

Automation Through Touch, Motion, and Light Sensors

When the user touches or moves the walker in low-light environments, the dual-zone LEDs instantly activate, illuminating hazards, doorways, and floor transitions.

Tip-Over Alarm

Alerts of a Possible Fall or Emergency

Motion sensors detect device tip-over events, immediately initiating a loud acoustic chirp and flashing visual alert to summon nearby caregivers.

Attaches In Seconds

Zero Caregiver or User Training Needed For Use or Installation

Effortless integration with a variety of walkers & rollators. Attaches securely in seconds to standard institutional walkers and requires zero training.

Contrast Color Controls

AUTO

Switch Left

Engages Multiple Sensors: Illuminates automatically upon touch or movement in dark environments, remains lit until ambient light turns on or 30 seconds without movement.

OFF

Switch Right

Sensors Deactivated: Complete system shutdown. Preserves battery capacity during device transport, or non-use.

LIGHT

Round Button

Continuous Illumination: Provides continuous pathway lighting for prolonged manual use. Turns off automatically after 90 seconds of no movement.

We address a simple but critical issue:

Patient movement in environments where lighting is inadequate.

Falls represent a significant threat to patient autonomy and are a primary driver of non-elective hospital admissions. Within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health system, mitigating fall risk is a core priority for improving patient outcomes and reducing avoidable clinical expenditure.

General Demographic Baseline:

Annually, 1 in 4 adults aged 65 and older experience a fall, accumulating over 14 million fall events, 800,000 hospitalizations, and more than 40,000 fatalities across the national healthcare system annually. Overall direct medical costs associated with fall injuries exceed $50 billion.

Veteran Vulnerability:

Veterans aged 65 and older report significantly more frequent falls than the general non-veteran population. Given that men aged 65+ exhibit significantly higher rates of fall-related mortality compared to women, the predominantly senior male Veteran demographic faces heightened clinical risk.

Inpatient Escalation:

Patient falls within VA hospitals surged by 253% between 2020 and 2022, accentuating the urgency for immediate, passive environmental interventions.

The Low-Vision Compounder:

Visual impairment acts as a risk multiplier for mobility-related falls, particularly during low-light transitions such as getting out of bed, getting into a chair, or using the bathroom.

Automated Safety

Walker Light is equipped with a variety of automated sensors.

Ambient Light Sensor:

Continuously monitors light levels, preventing unnecessary battery draw during daylight hours or illuminated room conditions.

Motion-Activated LEDs:

When the patient touches or moves the walker in low-light environments, the dual-zone LEDs instantly activate, illuminating forward and downward hazards, doorways, and floor transitions.

30-Second Rest Timer:

Following movement cessation, illumination remains active for 30 seconds or sooner if ambient light comes on – ensuring the patient retains spatial visibility while transferring to a bed, chair, or restroom.

Tip-Over Strobe & Acoustic Siren:

Integrated sensors detect tip-overs or fall events. Upon tip-over detection, the unit instantly activates high-intensity flashing lights and an audible alarm to immediately alert nearby family, caregiver, or nursing staff.

Installation: Under 1 Minute

Identify Frame Compatibility:

Ensure the correct SKU mounting configuration is selected for the specific walker frame.

Position Mounting Clips or Brackets:

Align the pre-installed clips or brackets on to the walker’s back rest strap or upper cross bar.

Attach Walker Light

Apply firm forward pressure until both brackets snap securely into place.

Verification:

Confirm that the dual-zone LED housing points forward and downward to illuminate both extended pathway obstacles and foot-level floor transitions.

Walker Light® connects to most walker models.

No tools, screws, or structural frame modifications are required.
